mechanical principle of one-way movement.
This computer offers a model that has the characteristics
shared by all automation. From the point of intake of materials
to the output of the finished product, the operations tend to
be independently, as well as interdependently, automatic. The
synchronized concert of operations is under the control of
gauges and instruments that can be varied from the control-
panel boards that are themselves electronic. The material of
intake is relatively uniform in shape, size, and chemical
properties, as likewise the material of the output. But the
processing under these conditions permits use of the highest
